France 2004 Entente Cordial 1.5 Euro Silver Proof Crown Slabbed Cgs 96

France 2004 Entente Cordial 1.5 Euro Silver Proof Crown Slabbed Cgs 96

FRANCE 2004 ENTENTE CORDIAL 1 1/2 EUROS SILVER PROOF. COMES IN SEALED CGS SLABBED CAPSULE GRADED CGS 96. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS OF ACTUAL ITEM FOR CONDITION. About the CGS Grading System. The purpose of the CGS UK grading system is to offer and make available to the general market for English Milled Coinage an independent assessment of grade, authenticity and attribution (type or variety). The project was two years in the making involving many experts both dealers and collectors, as well as numismatic journalists. Surprisingly there is no universally accepted bench mark standards for the grading of English coins, by this we mean there is no universally recognized independent publication giving bench marks for the grading of English coins. To our knowledge no one refers to any accepted universal guide (as none exists) or retains sets of coins to refer to for consistencies sake. How then has grading been done? Basically the grader looked at a coin and decided based on his experience and memory what grade it is, if he is not sure then a plethora of middle grade attachments and riders are introduced such as about Uncirculated, near to Very Fine, approaching EF, better than Fine, Good Very Fine, BU, Gem, Choice we could go on it seems almost endlessly. The CGS UK system arrives at a numeric grade between 1 and 100 with 100 being absolute perfection. It is not our intention to replace the traditional grading terminology (listed below) but it can easily be argued that once a numerical grade is attached the need for some additional narrative description is superfluous. However CGS UK numerical system will broadly translate as follows. Observed read across grades to other systems Based on observations after CGS have graded 25,000 coins March 2013. Average Raw UK Grade. Average Standard USA Sheldon. Choice UNC – BU. UNC or near so. MS 62 – 63. THE COIN GRADING SERVICE. The CGS UK system starts by asking whether the coin is genuine (it may be compared to our extensive library of known forgery types, and weighed) in some cases it may be sent to consultant experts and specialists depending on the coin type. In essence we convince our selves as much as is possible we are dealing with the genuine item. We have to as we offer to pay the full market value to the submitter of any coin we encapsulate which subsequently is proved not to be genuine. We then assess if the coin has been enhanced by artificial toning, tooled, polished, plugged, or whizzed. Coins with significant problems such as scratches and verdigris will fall outside the CGS benchmarking system and a numerical grade cannot be established. And really need to be seen by potential buyers who can judge for themselves the extent of the problem and decide if they are prepared to have such coins in their collections. CGS will reject such coins, they will not have a numerical grade attached, instead they will have the problem described the main ones being. Altered the coin has been rubbed or smoothed to conceal previous damage, or plugged or repaired. Bent the coin is bent, and will not lie flat on a flat surface. Cleaned the coin has been harshly or inappropriate cleaned giving it an abnormal appearance. Corrosion dark corrosion is apparent which CGS believed it to be too problematic and/or potentially still active to be benchmarked. Edge Problems the coin has significant edge knocks or bruises, or evidence of being mounted, or flan cracks at the edge. Field Damage the coin has heavy surface knocks, gouges, attempted and actual unofficial piercings, laminations, flan flaws or other significant problems. Gilded the coin has a gold coating which it did not have when it was issued. Lacquered the coin has had a clear chemical coating applied popular practice in the seventies when it was thought to act as a preservation method for lustre. Stained a stain(s) detracts from the coins appearance. Scratches the coin has significant scratches and or graffiti. Verdigris when a green corrosive residue(s) or unseemly spot(s) are readily apparent. CGS will encapsulate such coins as they would be gradable in the traditional market but would attract additional descriptions accompanying the grade which describe the problem. The CGS ticket will reflect this and include the main grade F, VF, EF, UNC which CGS consider the coin to be and also a single phrase description the problem. The normal My Page functions will not be available as CGS will not value such coins. The item you see is the item you will get… ALL ITEMS WILL STILL BE SENT BY MINIMUM FIRST CLASS POST. EACH EXTRA COIN – 50 PENCE. SEE MY SILVER COINS NOW…. Drawn on uk bank only in sterling. (please allow 7 days for cheque clearance before i will post your item). Women of France 2016 Queens Clotile, Matilda & Joan d'Arc 22g Proof Silver Coin

Last set Women of France 2016 Queen Clotilde, Queen Matilda, Joan d’Arc 3x 22.2g Silver. The Women of France series pays tribute to the history of France and women who have contributed. Through their portraits and memorable scenes of their lives, engravers of the Monnaie de Paris have transcribed the personalities of these famous women. All denominations are struck in a particular quality called History. It gives an antique look to the currencies and makes them perfectly imperfect, making each copy a unique specimen! The series begins with three famous women from the medieval period: the Queen Clotilde, Queen Mathilde and Jeanne dArc Through their portrait and the significant event of their live, Monnaie de Paris engravers have transcribed those famous womens personality. Some textures treated as all-over textiles patterns appear in the background of the coins. 474 545, princess of Burgundy and fervent Catholic, was brought up in her mothers Christian faith. She married Clovis in 493 and their first two children were baptised at Clotildes particular request. It was at the battle of Tolbiac in 496 that Clovis himself promised to convert, on condition that he was victorious. He was subsequently baptised on 25 December 498 in Reims. Highly instrumental in her husbands conversion to Christianity, Clotilde died around 545 and was canonised around 550. With him Clotilde built at Paris the Church of the Holy Apostles, afterwards known as the Abbey of St Genevieve. After Clovis death in 511, she retired to the Abbey of St. Clotildes cult made her the patron of queens, widows, brides and even those in exile. In Normandy especially, she was venerated as guarding the lame and those who suffered violent death and ill-tempered husbands. In art she is often depicted presiding over the baptism of Clovis, or as a suppliant at the shrine of Saint Martin. Several fine images of her remain, particularly in the 16th century stained glass window at Andelys. Her relics survived the French Revolution, and are housed in the Église Saint-Leu-Saint-Gilles in Paris. Matilda of Flanders was born around 1031 and died on 2 November 1083. She was the wife of William the Conqueror and, as such, Queen of England. Around 1050, Matilda of Flanders c. 1031 -1083 married the Duke of Normandy, William the Bastard, who would become William the Conqueror and King of England in 1066 following his victory at the Battle of Hastings. The Bayeux Tapestry, commissioned by Odon de Bayeux (Williams half-brother and bishop of Bayeux from 1049 to 1097), records the events that took place from 1064 to 1066 during the Norman conquest of England. Legend has it that Queen Matilda created the tapestry, assisted by her ladies-in-waiting. The marriage appears to have been successful, and William is not recorded to have had any bastards. Matilda was about 35, and had already produced most of her children, when William embarked on the Norman conquest of England, sailing in his flagship Mora, which Matilda had given him. Matilda was crowned queen on 11 May 1068 in Westminster during the feast of Pentecost, in a ceremony presided over by the archbishop of York. She governed the Duchy of Normandy in his absence, joining him in England only after more than a year, and subsequently returning to Normandy, where she spent most of the remainder of her life, while William was mostly in his new kingdom. She was about 51 when she died in Normandy in 1083. Joan of Arc was born in Domemy in the Lorraine region of France around 1412. She claimed, as an adolescent, to have been instructed by saints to free France from English occupation and to conduct the Dauphin on the royal throne. She made it her mission to get to the Daupins side and inform him of her divine calling, so that he might give her an army with which to deliver France. The tale of Joans military success is a daunting cascade of victories that eventually turned the tide of the Hundred Years War. In May 1431 she was burned at the stake in a Rouen marketplace. When the French retook Rouen in 1449, a series of investigations were launched, which led to a formal appeal run by the Inquisitor-General in 1455. Joan was exonerated on July 7, 1456, with the Inquisitors summary of case evidence describing her as a martyr who had been executed by a court which itself had violated Church law. Her canonization took place in 1920. Metal: 900 Fine Silver. Weight: 3x 22.2g. Women of France Series. Year of Issue: 2016. Features a bust of Queen Clotilde. Engraved around the circumference are her name and title. At the bottom are noted the years of her life span. The coin also has been lightly engraved with a repetitive tapestry pattern in the background. MATILDA Engraved around the circumference are her name and title. The coin also has been engraved with a repetitive. Needle work pattern in the background. Features the helmeted head of this military leader. Engraved around the circumference are the words Jeanne DArc and the years marking her short life span. Was represented in the arms her family were awarded in honour of her role in rallying the patriots of France to end the English occupation. Carrys a depiction of Clovis baptism on the obverse, also in a period style with the patterned background. The obverse features a scene from The Bayeux Tapestry which recorded events from the Norman conquest of England including the Battle of Hastings. In is beleived that Queen Matilda created the tapestry, assisted by her ladies-in-waiting. The obverse shows Joan of Arc mounted on a horse holding her battle standard.
